Kelby Watt To Fill In For Injured Bill Rose

[6/28/24] Kelby Watt of Adel, Iowa, a regular in Knoxville Raceway weekly competition in both the 360 and 410 sprint car divisions, is slated to fill the seat of Bill Rose’s #6.  During World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series competition at Fremont Speedway in May, Rose sustained a sternum injury that will have him sidelined. Watt has been competing for the 2024 Rookie of the Year honors in the 410 division at Knoxville Raceway, but will step away momentarily to compete in the #6 car, while Rose continues to recover.  The pairing's first outing will come this weekend, June 28th and 29th at Cedar Lake Speedway, in New Richmond, Wisconsin, for the World of Outlaws Independence Spectacular.

"I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to work with one of the most experienced veterans in our sport. Bill has a great program and I have some really big shoes to step into, but I am very excited for the opportunity. This will be a great learning experience for me to get some seat time at various racetracks and get valuable coaching from Bill. We all wish Bill a speedy recovery, hopefully he's back in the seat very soon!" shares Watt.

Watt has been a weekly competitor at Knoxville Raceway since starting in the pro sprint 305 division seven years ago, where he achieved four feature wins.  In 360 National competition at the ‘Sprint Car Capital of the World’, Watt was the 2022 quick time award winner and has had two A-main feature starts. In August of 2023, Watt transitioned to 410 sprint car competition where he entered the 62nd running of the Knoxville Nationals, competing against 103 other drivers and teams. Watt most recently competed with the greatest show on dirt, when the WoO visited the famed half mile in June 2024, where he made the feature during Friday night’s program, finishing 18th. Currently sitting

14th Knoxville Raceway Weekly Point standings, Watt has earned one top ten finish in six A-main feature starts, along with two heat race wins.

“I am excited for this opportunity to work with Kelby; he is an incredibly determined young man with a deep passion for racing, who is eager to learn and grow, not only behind the wheel as a driver, but by also turning the wrenches.  Being able to travel the country with the World of Outlaws will help him gain a lot of exposure and seat time at various racing facilities. I am hoping we can be successful, and both continue to learn and grow. I believe he will have a bright future ahead of him,” shares Rose.
